My name is Laurelin, I first picked up a crochet hook one lazy summer holiday in Finland when I was 13 - I made a hat, in a rather dodgy shade of tangerine and I haven't looked back since.

Nowadays the setting I crochet in isn't quite so picturesque (my living room, in deepest, darkest Luton) but I still have the same passion for the craft as I did 17 years ago. Over the years I have crocheted gifts for other people, and in turn my own two children, and over time I have developed a real passion for creating modern, bespoke blankets. I love the idea of creating a gift for a baby (or child) that is unique and will be treasured in the same way I treasure the handmade gifts I received when my own children were born.

Unfortunately for me, the amount of crochet blankets my own children need is finite, so I have decided to venture out into making blankets for other peoples babies. I love making blankets that a new baby is going to get snuggled in as they grow and develop into their own little person, and for that reason, I put the same love and attention into the blankets I create for other people as I did when I crocheted my own children's first pram blanket.

I love to work with bright, funky colours, especially alternatives to the stereotypical pastel shades often used in mass produced baby blankets bought from the high street. I I like to put a modern twist on what is a very traditional, and often misunderstood craft.

Here in my Etsy shop you can buy ready made blankets, or you can commission me to create a bespoke item. I like to make each blanket I crochet unique in its own way, so even if you ask me to recreate a piece I have made before, it will have subtle differences in colour order or edge colours that means the blanket you buy will be one of a kind.
